The VTech Kids Watch DX2 is a smartwatch designed specifically for children. Unlike most smartwatches, the KidiZoom smartwatch may be used without a smartphone. With configurable analogue and digital watch faces and games for playtime, this wristwatch is a terrific tool to help kids learn to tell time. The VTech KidiZoom Smartwatch DX3-Pink, in effect, introduces kids to the increasingly popular smartwatch.
The VTech KidiZoom Wristwatch has a classic smartwatch design that is evocative of the Apple Watch, especially with VTech’s decision to use rounded edges on the watch’s face. The device, however, is on the thicker side; one Amazon customer stated that it was too thick to be useful. The watch has two cameras (one on the side of the watch for “selfies”), a home button on the left edge, and a shutter button on the right corner. The screen is 1.44″ in size, and the device has a prominent bezel. I think the bezel is excessively large, yet it is required for the inclusion of the selfie camera. This watch is available in a variety of band colours, including red, blue, black, and even camouflage. With so many band colours to choose from, your youngster is sure to find one that he or she likes—a welcome feature from the Costco VTech watch.
How Effective Is The DX2 Smartwatch?
Amazon reviewers have had a mixed bag of feelings about this watch. Many reviewers thought it was a great product for kids and never mentioned any difficulties with the vtech kids watch functioning. Many other Costco VTech watch reviews, on the other hand, experienced issues. After several months of use, one reviewer said that the watch’s home button ceased working, and another claimed that the watch completely froze. Finally, another Amazon customer reported that the watch’s “selfie” screen would freeze.
Vtech Kids Watch Review In 2022
Here is the complete review of vtech kids watch.
The colours and design of Vtech watches
For all sizes of wrists, the belt is soft, pleasant, and flexible, and the bright colours are ideal for children. There are six different hues to choose from. Royal Blue, Vivid Violet, Pink, Camouflage, Red Flame, and Floral Swirl are some of the colours available. The red flame version features a royal blue wristband, while the floral swirl version includes a vibrant violet wristband bonus that none of the others has!
Camera and video
This VTech kids’ watch features a dual-camera technology that allows the user to snap photos of themselves (selfies) as well as whatever they aim their arm at using the side camera. The 0.3-megapixel camera on top can capture still photographs at a resolution of 640 480 pixels. The camera’s quality is excellent for playing purposes, especially considering the price. The camera offers a lot of amusing photo filters, frames, and effects, which I really like.
Activities & Games
The VTech Kids Watch 2nd Generation comes with 5 built-in games, 3 entertaining activities, and 3 action challenges that make use of the smart motion sensor. Not only that, but there’s more. It also features a “VTech Learning Lodge” download area where you can get more downloadable information that is updated on a regular basis. Jumping Egg, Music Town, Tic-Tac-Toe, Super Snowboard, and Super Boarder are the five built-in games. They’re not quite Playstation-worthy, but they’re entertaining for kids.
Monster Identity, Funny Face Detector, and Sound Shaker are the three activities. Racing, Crazy Dance, and Funky Jump are the three action tasks. What I can say about them is that a young child around 4 to 9 years old will adore them. It also includes a pedometer that can track steps or other movement. However, you should be aware that it is merely for entertainment purposes, and the company claims that it may not be entirely accurate. With the active play challenges built-in to the watch, it works in conjunction with the motion sensor to encourage youngsters to be more active and get more exercise. Learning Resources
This product is something you might want to consider if you want to teach your youngster how to tell time correctly. Why? It contains 50 built-in 3D clock faces that encourage youngsters to check the time more frequently, as well as a “Time Master” feature that teaches kids how to tell time. This VTech kids’ watch also offers an alarm and a stopwatch, which are both useful features.
Storage and synchronisation
The VTech Kids Watch DX features 256 MB of total memory. This isn’t a big camera, but it can take 1600 photographs or 23 minutes of 320 x 240-pixel video or 11 minutes of 640 x 480-pixel video, according to the makers. Each video has a time limit of one minute. To connect it to your computer, you’ll get a Micro USB 2.0 cable. This cable allows you to transfer data from your smart watch to your PC.
Parental Oversight
Are you concerned that your child may play with their watch for an extended period of time, causing damage to their eyes? With the 2nd generation Kidizoom DX, this isn’t an issue because it comes with parental controls. You can set a time limit for how long your child can play games. It can be adjusted to 30 minutes, 60 minutes, 90 minutes, or no time constraints at all at every stop.
Battery & Charging
A non-removable Li-ion polymer battery powers it. According to the official documentation, the battery will last two weeks with light usage, three days with moderate usage, and one day with intensive usage. Things like playing video games and shooting videos will quickly deplete the battery. The VTech Kids Watch DX does not come with a separate charger, instead relying on a Micro USB 2.0 cord. You must use a USB cable to connect it to a computer to charge it.
No GPS
Most parents, especially those with young children, want to keep an eye on where their children are going. Unfortunately, the VTech Kidizoom Smartwatch DX2 download does not include this feature. If you are unable to determine where your youngster is using it, I’m not sure why VTech kids watch hasn’t thought of it yet. This one feature alone may have enticed thousands of caring parents to purchase the product. I imagine that the price increase associated with GPS commands would make it too expensive for a young child to wear a smartwatch.
Last Thoughts
Unlike a smartwatch, the VTech kids’ watch is a smart toy. Even without the camera or video recorder, a child may have a lot of fun with this watch. We also enjoy the time-telling app, which makes learning to tell the time enjoyable. It is lacking in a few areas. This VTech watch would be better if it included GPS and was fully waterproof (it’s only splashproof). Otherwise, I would have given it a perfect 5-star rating. Aside from that, the VTech Kidizoom DX is an excellent choice for small children and is currently the best on the market.
